Supporting the life of the differently abled children

Project Details: Sadvichar Upvan - School Rewilding Project

This project focuses on greening of a ~3.8 acres of land owned by Sadvichar Parivar Trust in Uvarsad, Gujarat. Uvarsad is a very small town close to the Ahmedabad - Gandhinagar Highway. The main activity in the area is farming. Main crops are castor, mustard and wheat.

The site hosts a school for differently abled children called Sadvichar Parivar Viklang Punarvas Kendra. The school was established in 1981 and has a large campus of ~70 acres. The children are taught up to 12th grade. Classes include music, sports, computer training, and also skill development classes (printing technology, graphic art, carpentry work, horticulture, veterinary). The institution has built a modern residential building with facilities like a dining hall, modern sports equipment, library, computer hall, playground, physiotherapy center, auditorium, music training center and classrooms. Co-curricular activities are planned periodically to enhance exposure and identify hidden talents of the children. There are currently 160 students residing at the school.

Greening activity will be taken up on a land parcel adjacent to the school campus. The land is currently barren with hardly any existing trees. There is no planned use for this land parcel, and can be allocated for a long term rewilding project.
